Dan Looney, Idaho artist, has been painting for over 40 years and has completed over 3,000 paintings. He continues to travel extensively and he is determined to learn and develop new techniques and original artwork. His favorite locales are Idaho, Oregon, the American southwest, and wherever his imagination takes him. He has also visited Hawaii, British Columbia and the Great Lakes region, sketching and painting along the way. His artwork has been displayed at art galleries in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Utah.While in Europe in 1982, Dan traveled extensively, presenting artistic demonstrations and one-man shows in five countries.
In 1999, while living in Florence, on the beautiful Oregon coast, Dan published “ARTWORKS,” a book of his artwork with a narrative description of how each painting was created and the story behind it. From 2000-2008, Dan Looney Studio was in McCall, Idaho. His artwork was purchased by patrons of all fifty states in America and over 20 foreign countries. Since 2008, Dan Looney Art has been in the Boise area, displaying his artwork at Capital City Public Market (Saturday Market), downtown Boise, outdoor events and art shows. His artwork is also purchased through his website, and through social media – Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter.
Dan was nominated for Idaho Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, Boise, Idaho, 2008, 2010. He received the Founder’s Favorite Award, the Art Guild of Magic Valley, during the Art & Soul of the Magic Valley event, Twin Falls, Idaho, 2015. Dan has been listed by Boise Magazine several times as one of Boise’s “Favorite Artists, and you can find him this year at the market which starts again on April 16, 2016.
