Tom Stevens has been the Extravagonzo Gourmet Foods man for nine years already! He sold his first bottle of gourmet oil at the Capital City Public Market in 2007, and his business continues to be quite successful.
It all started when Tom decided to try his hand at making a better product than his competition’s product, which he was already enjoying on a regular basis in his own kitchen. At that time he was smitten with his competitor’s roasted garlic oil, but soon he found that his own oils were far more delightful. In fact, his own roasted garlic oil is now his best seller, so the inspiration he found that one fateful day changed the course of his life.
Tom now offers various oil flavors, all of which can be found on his website: www.extravagonzofoods.com. He’s also quite proud at how versatile his oils are and thus how well they each pair with so many types of dishes. Someday he’d love for Emeril Lagasse, Rachel Ray, and even Oprah to give their stamp of approval and even incorporate his oils into their dishes.
Tom continues to try and expand his product line, and he’s looking forward to featuring more oils and possibly some additional spice packets as well.
For those who are interested in tasting his great product, you can find his goodies locally at numerous places including both Coops, Idaho’s Bounty, Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, Rosauer’s/Huckleberry’s, Reel Foods Fish Market, Pauls’ Market in McCall, Indian Creek Winery, Ketchum Kitchens, Wood River Sustainability Center, Nourish Me (Ketchum), North End Organic Nursery, and many more outside of the area.
Also, be sure to stop by the market this summer, which starts up again on April 16 (in just one month!), and find Tom so that you can taste test his newest creations.
