Delia Dante, founder of FireFusion Studio, is an award winning metal and glass enamel artist from San Francisco who currently resides in Boise Idaho.  She’s been enameling for 12 years, and she recently opened a new gallery in the heart of downtown Boise located at 1124 W. Front Street.

Vitreous enamel, also porcelain enamel, is a material made by fusing powdered glass to a substrate glass, by firing, usually between 750 and 850 C (1,380 and 1,560 F).

Delia discovered her artistic passion in the creation of metal and enamel sculptures, wall pieces, and jewelry. She works with copper and steel embodied with beautiful enamel colors, a process she describes as “magical” because it gives instant results that you can respond to. She especially loves to make large-scale pieces, such as her fourteen foot sculpture “Me Deuce” situated at the bar in Barbacoa Grill.

In addition to her work, Delia is also a board member for the International Enamelist Society and has received numerous awards, public and private commissions, and she donates her art to charitable organizations in the community.

For anyone who is interested in learning from Delia, she offers community classes. Beginners would benefit from taking the “Introduction to Enameling” class which takes place at her studio from 3-5:00pm and again from 6-8:00pm on Wednesday and Saturdays, and they are great for couples and families. She also recommends the 3-hour welding class, which are booked through appointments. She also offers more advanced classes for those who have graduated beyond the basics.

Delia says, “I absolutely love what I do and love bringing back the lesser-known art of enameling through teaching and sharing my art with others.” You can find her through her website, her studio location, or at the market this summer, which starts on April 16, 2016.
